Land Records Section
The Land Records Section is part of the Real Property Division of the Alamance County Tax Department. Our team maintains accurate and up-to-date records of the ownership, location, and boundaries of approximately 80,000 parcels in the county.

Together, our staff ensures that property records are updated and reliable for both citizens and county departments.
What We Do
- Update property records when land is transferred, divided, combined, or corrected.
- Research property information to answer questions from citizens, attorneys, surveyors, and county staff.
- Work closely with the Register of Deeds (records typically updated within 2–3 weeks of a deed being filed).
- Preserve historic tax documents and maps for future generations.
Access Historic Maps
We are actively scanning and preserving important historical documents, including Historic Tax Maps and W.T. Hall Maps, so the public can access them online.
More maps and documents will be added online as our preservation project continues.
