Personal Property Division
The Personal Property Division of the Tax Department is responsible for listing and assessing both individual and business personal property in Alamance County. This includes everything from cars and boats to equipment and machinery used in businesses.
What We Do
Each year, our staff processes:
- Registered motor vehicles
- Other personal property items (unregistered vehicles, trailers, mobile homes, boats and motors, airplanes, etc.)
- Listings of business personal property such as equipment, machinery, furniture, computers, and other taxable assets
Our team also:
- Adjusts values and prorates bills when needed
- Reviews appeals related to personal property assessments
- Administers the Homestead Exemption Program for qualifying elderly or disabled residents
- Provides one-on-one assistance to citizens and business owners by phone or in person

- Four Clerks and one Auditor who specialize in assisting both individuals and businesses with their property listings and assessments along with one Supervisor

View/print your DMV tax records online: edmv.ncdot.gov/MyDMV
To log in, you’ll need:
- Your NC Driver’s License or NC ID Card Number
- The last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (or I-94/Alien Registration Number)
- Your birth date
Once logged in, you can view and print your DMV tax records anytime.
